Prestack phase corrections using local seismic attributes



Phase correcting seismic data is important for the optimal interpretation of seismic images. In this paper, we introduce an approach for correcting prestack migration gathers for variable phase rotations which consists of residual NMO corrections, correcting to the same phase using local similarity, and correcting to zero phase using local skewness. This produces more consistent and reliable data than before phase corrections and should improve the quality of stack and AVO analysis. We demonstrate the method on seismic data from the Arkoma Basin in Oklahoma.
