Geohazards assessment by seismic methods on Arctic Shelf

Subsea permafrost and gas-saturated deposits represent the main geohazards for prospective engineering construction prior offshore Artic exploration. Identification of these hazards by seismic data is an extremely important issue. A seismic image of gas saturated deposits is rather similar to the image of a permafrost top. In this paper basic principles and examples of permafrost and gas saturated deposits identification and differencetion are presented.
